Here’s what £1 million could buy you in each of the Six Nations

Inspired by the rugby? Get closer to the heroes of the Six Nations in these six luxurious abodes.

(If you’ve got a spare million quid, that is. If not, well… just having a look can’t hurt. At the houses or the players. Ahem.)

France

This three-bedroom ground floor flat overlooking the bay of Cannes is everything we want from life.

Just look at it. That pool. That view. That so incredibly French bedroom. Tres bon. We’re sold.

Price: £1,001,284 / €1,285,000

French rugby player you might run into: Wing/Fullback Teddy Thomas

Italy

This nine-bedroom farmhouse (yes, it has nine bedrooms) close to Siena looks alright to us. It’s in Tuscany, for a start. It’s got (again) a relatively impressive looking pool. It’s got beams upon beams upon beams. If there was a dream of a Tuscan farmhouse, this would be it.

Price: £1,005,180 / €1,290,000

Italian rugby player you might run into: Captain Sergio Parisse

Wales

This “character property” in Newport boasts its own gym, stables and paddock. Again, we have a pool — but luckily (since it’s Wales) this one is indoors. We like this bedroom in particular:

Price: £1,000,000

Welsh rugby player you might run into: Wing Alex Cuthbert, seen here waving to fans

England

This unique Thames-side house is only a couple of miles away from the Home of England Rugby, Twickenham. No pool this time, sadly — but hey, you would have the benefit of living in London rather than Newport. (Sorry Newport.)

Price: £1,000,000

English rugby player you might run into: Team Captain Dylan Hartley

Ireland

They’ve got room to spare in Ireland. This seven-bedroom detached house dates from the 17th Century, sits in ten acres of land, and has pool that (weather permitting) looks just lovely. We think the surroundings of Bantry Bay, though, are the real draw. Along with the fact that the garden (if you can call it that) appears to lead right down to the water. Wow. Zers.

Price: £1,009,076 / €1,295,000

Irish rugby player you might run into: Fly-half Ian Madigan

Scotland

This bonnie Edinburgh offering might look like a castle in miniature, but it’s actually a five-bedroom house. It is a bit like stepping back in time inside, though — one of the first things we clocked was the pans hanging up in the kitchen. It’s like a compact, Celtic version of Downton.

Price: £1,000,000

Scottish rugby player you might run into: Team Captain Greig Laidlaw, who thinks it’s a great idea that you’re moving here
