Writer, actor and director Harold Ramis, best known for writing Ghostbusters, died yesterday at his home in Chicago.
Also writer of Groundhog Day, Ramis’s career was defined by successful collaborations — most notably with actors Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II and Stripes.
Tributes have flooded in from Hollywood, with Dan Aykroyd calling Ramis a “brilliant, gifted, funny friend, co-writer/performer and teacher” and Seth MacFarlane citing him as “a brilliant, shining example for every comedy writer hoping to achieve excellence (in) the field.”
Actor and WWE wrestler John Cena called Ramis called Ramis the man who “changed the way we all laughed for the better.”
