3 vodka cocktails to end your freshers week with a bang

Vodka has been warming the cockles of drinkers in Eastern and Northern Europe for over 600 years — from the bitingly cold nights of 17th Century Russia to the, er, almost equally cold nights of winter on UK university campuses.

Firestarter Vodka, which launched in the UK earlier this year, has chosen its three favourite cocktails to celebrate the students’ favourite spirit.

Drink sensibly, now…

Apple Martini

1 1/2oz Firestarter Vodka

1oz Apple Schnapps

1/4oz lemon juice

Pour vodka and apple schnapps over ice, add a squeeze of lemon, garnish with a slice of apple and serve.

Beach Bum Shake

1oz Tequila

1/4oz Firestarter Vodka

2oz orange juice

1 splash Triple sec

Pour the tequila, orange juice, vodka and triple sec into a cocktail shaker with crushed ice and shake for a minute. Strain into a hurricane glass. Add a tiny umbrella and a slice of lemon.

The Ultimate Firestarter Cocktail

1 ½ oz Firestarter Vodka

1oz Triple Sec

1oz Peach Schnapps

1oz Sloe Gin

Coca Cola

Combine all ingredients into a tumbler glass over ice. Stir well and serve.
